Francesc Bover

(Santa Maria de Corbera, 1769 – Barcelona, 1831)

Francesc Bover was a student of Salvador Gurri at the School of Fine Arts of the Llotja. In 1789, the Royal Board of Trade of Barcelona awarded him the first prize for sculpture, and the following year it gave him a grant to study in Rome, where he continued his artistic training until 1795.

In 1797, following his stay in Rome, Bover was named assistant director of the School of Fine Arts of the Llotja, where he taught until his death.
